Delano, MN – January 21, 2025 – Industrial Louvers, Inc., a leader in custom architectural metals, is proud to announce the launch of its latest addition to its Velocity™ series high-performance louver systems, the VS51T FEMA-rated louvers. Designed to withstand tornado-force winds and flying debris, these louvers also boast an industry-leading combination of Air Movement and Control Association (AMCA) ratings for any FEMA-rated louver.
A game-changer for saferoom design, the VS51T model louver stands up to a 15-pound missile traveling at 100 miles per hour. Even more exciting, it achieves this while also having a free area of 45.5%. Unlike most FEMA-rated louvers, ILI’s louvers are made from mechanically fastened aluminum extrusions, allowing them to be finished to match more traditional louvers used elsewhere in projects.

Aluminum weathers much better than steel, and high-performance PVDF finishes carry a 20-year warranty.
The new VS51T louvers are intended for use in tornado shelter areas in schools, hospitals, and other types of critical infrastructure. They meet ICC-500, FEMA P-320, and FEMA P-361 impact requirements. Testing for water penetration, air performance, and wind-driven rain has been certified by the Air Movement and Control Association.
